About this course

Generative AI is already in your office, whether through a research platform, a drafting assistant, or a staff member's personal account. This session works through the Rules of Professional Conduct that apply, using realistic scenarios from small-firm practice: drafting with AI, verifying citations, protecting client information, billing for AI-assisted work, and writing a firm policy your team will actually follow.

Part of our professional track for attorneys, designed around the technology-related subjects New Jersey will require of every attorney beginning January 1, 2027. CLE accreditation is in progress; this course does not carry credit today.

CLE accreditation in progressTediso courses do not currently carry CLE or CPE credit.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Identify the Rules of Professional Conduct implicated when attorneys and staff use generative AI.
  • Evaluate an AI tool's data handling terms before client information is entered into it.
  • Apply a verification routine that catches fabricated or inaccurate citations.
  • Draft the core provisions of a firm AI-use policy, including supervision of non-lawyer staff.
